Course Infomation

How is the course delivered?

The training is delivered face-to-face and elements of online learning. This means that training is delivered both in a classroom setting and also via Zoom where students and trainer meet online using their laptop or personal computer. As part of the course, students are also required to complete a 120-hour work placement which is organised by EmployEase.

The course is delivered across three (3) timetabled options:

1. Daytime Courses – The program is delivered two days per week 9.30am to 3.30pm over approximately 25 weeks excluding school holidays and public holidays.
2. Evening Course – The program is delivered two (2) evenings per week 6.15pm to 9.15pm (Zoom sessions 6pm to 9pm) over approximately 43 weeks depending on school holidays and public holidays, plus Saturday practical classes.
3. Saturday Course – Training is delivered every Saturday 9.30am to 3.30pm over approximately 41 weeks depending on school holidays and public holidays.

We specialise in training people who have been out of the workforce or education for a period of time. Our goal is to make your training relevant, inclusive and most importantly, enjoyable and fun.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for people who have no prior experience in aged care and would like to gain a qualification to start their career. Our goal is to make your training relevant, inclusive and most importantly, enjoyable and fun.

We specialise in training a wide range of people with different backgrounds and experience:

1. People who have been out of the workforce or education for a period of time
2. People looking to change careers
3. Parents looking to get back into the workforce with a family-friendly course timetable
4. People who are experienced / currently working in aged care who do not hold a formal nationally accredited qualification

Pre-Training review

The purpose of the review is to help us to understand your interests, background, your existing knowledge and skills and your career goals, and is designed to make sure the program is right for you, before you enroll.

 

The PTR (Pre-Training Review) involves an informal interview, a language literacy numeracy and an information technology assessment.  To successfully complete this program students must have language, literacy and numeracy skills at Level 3 ACSF.  Mobile Phones or any translation devices are not permitted to be used during a pre-training review.

 

Students must also be competent in using email, creating word documents, and uploading documents online.

Attendance

Students are required to attend minimum 80% of all classes.  In some circumstances a student may be prevented from undertaking assessment should their attendance not meet minimum requirements. Please refer to our Student Handbook for more information (see Further Information below).

What are the entry requirements?

Each student must provide a current Police check with no disclosures.  These checks are required to meet industry standards and are a pre-requisite to being eligible to undertake a placement.

 

You cannot successfully complete this course without a clear police check. Should there be any doubt about your ability to meet these criteria, please raise your concerns with a Course Advisor prior to enrolment. EmployEase is unable to take responsibility for training undertaken, inability to complete a placement, or for any loss of fees due to a student being unable to provide a clear police check.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is conducted using a range of methods including written questioning, case studies, scenarios, research tasks and practical demonstrations within the classroom setting and in the workplace.

 

Written assessments are completed online via our LMS (online campus).

 

In class assessments include various demonstrations and role plays.

 

There is a 120-hour compulsory work placement component to this course, which is arranged for you by EmployEase and supported by a Mentor.  Placement is undertaken over a 3-week block, 15 days x 7am to 3pm shifts and is completed at the end of timetabled classes. We aim to arrange placement within 30 minutes of your home however this may not always be possible.  Students must be prepared to undertake some reasonable travel for placement.  Unfortunately, placement cannot be undertaken in locations that fall outside of our standard delivery areas.

 

Finally, students will complete a range of workplace tasks during their placement period, these are an additional and separate method of assessment.

Additional Information

Materials and equipment

As a portion of this course is delivered via Zoom and students are required to complete assessments using our online learning system, applicants must have:

• Easy access to a computer with internet and MS word
• Easy access to a document scanner or digital uploading resource
• Basic computer skills (able to create and upload a file; attach a file to email)
• Basic MS Word skills (able to create a word document)

Additional training opportunity

Unit CHCPAL001 Deliver care services using a palliative approach.

This training program is optional. Please let your Course Advisor know prior to enrolment if you wish to undertake this additional training opportunity.

Additional learning and support services

All students undertaking training with EmployEase have access to a two-part Return to Study program and our timetabled Study Support sessions. Some additional support is also available after class by meeting with one of our qualified trainers.
