What skills will I learn in this course?

As with any Nationally Recognised course, you will be exposed to a number of different learning opportunities. Through an in-depth engagement with practical and written aspects of CHC43415, you will be able to:

• Work efficiently throughout the leisure and health industries
• Participate in planning leisure and health activities for clients that have complex needs
• Contribute to programming and scheduling of activities
• Use proper communication to build relationships with colleagues and clients
• Work effectively with a diverse group of people
• Incorporate lifespan development and sociological concepts to your work
• Confirm the physical health status of clients
• Provide meaningful assistance in the planning, implementation and monitoring of individual leisure and health programs in a range of industries.

How is this course delivered?

The course is delivered over a 12-month period. For the first 10 weeks, students attend classes two days per week from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Classes will be delivered either face to face or on Zoom.  For the remainder of the program, classes reduce to one day per week and students undertake placement at a suitable organisation.

Classes do not run during school holidays.

Additional Information

Assessment

The CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health has a range of assessment methods such as written questions, case studies, projects, research tasks, and practical demonstrations. No tests or exams are required.

All written assessments are conducted online through the CANVAS Learning Management System. Classroom assessments consist of demonstrations and role plays. Additionally, there’s a mandatory 120-hour work placement, which EmployEase will arrange in consultation with you.

Entry Requirements

An entry requirement of this course is that you must provide a current Police check with no disclosures. These checks are required to meet industry standards and are a pre-requisite to being eligible to undertake placement. You cannot successfully complete this course without a clear police check. Should there be any doubt about your ability to meet these criteria, please raise your concerns with a Course Advisor prior to enrolment. EmployEase is unable to take responsibility for training undertaken, inability to complete placement or for any loss of fees due to a student being unable to provide a clear police check.

Pre-Training Review

The purpose of the review is to help us to understand your interests, background, your existing knowledge and skills and your career goals, and is designed to make sure the program is right for you, before you enroll.  The PTR involves an informal interview, a language literacy numeracy and information technology assessment.  To successfully complete this program students must have language, literacy and numeracy skills between Level 3 and Level 4 ACSF.  Mobile Phones or any translation devices are not permitted to be used during a pre-training review.   Students must also be competent in using email, creating word documents and uploading documents online.

Attendance

Students are required to attend minimum 80% of all training sessions. In some circumstances a student may be prevented from undertaking assessment should their attendance not meet minimum requirements. Please refer to our Student Handbook for more information (see Further Information below).

Materials and Equipment

Students undertaking this course are required to complete assessments online using the EmployEase Learning Management System.  In some instances, you may need to upload a document or download a document from the LMS, therefore applicants must have:

• Available access to a computer with reliable internet and MS word
• Available access to a document scanner or digital uploading resource
• Basic computer skills (able to create and upload a file; attach a file to email)
• Basic MS Word skills (able to create a word document)

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government Funding. Subject to Eligibility.

Additional Learning and Support Services

All students undertaking training with EmployEase have access to our two (2) part Return to Study program and our timetabled Study Support Sessions.  Some additional support is available after training by meeting with one of our qualified trainers.  Student Liaison is available to provide support in relation to goal setting, time management, study skills and welfare issues by contacting EmployEase reception on 1300 86 81 81.
