Subsidised Aged Care Training and Funding in Adelaide
The South Australian Government has widened the eligibility for subsidised aged care funding and training in Adelaide to fill the countries skills shortage.
The demand for aged care and disabled carers has never been more vital due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for more workers is likely to grow even further due to the ageing population.
In 2019 the Department of Jobs and Small Business ran an extensive survey of employers, looking closely at their experiences recruiting and retaining personal care workers. The department found that Australia’s aging population, paired with the introduction of the NDIS are responsible for substantial growth in the sector over the past decade.
Projections show that Australia will need an extra 80,600 personal care workers by 2023.
Supplying more trained workers to these sectors is identified as a significant government priority, and additional funding is accessible to ensure we can provide quality care to those who need it most – the elderly and those living with a disability. Continuity of workforce supply is a major pillar in our efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s no secret that job opportunities within the aged care and disability sector are plentiful. Still, the main question is: how do you become qualified and ready to start working in the industry? And, what subsidised training can you receive from the Government?
What qualifications do I need?
The CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) is a nationally recognised qualification delivered by EmployEase. It is the qualification needed to start a rewarding career in aged care.
What is government funding?
Government funding is an initiative run by the Australian Government; both state and federal, that incentivises students to participant in training and courses at a subsidised cost. This means that for selected courses such as the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community), the Government covers a substantial portion of the training and course costs.
What subsidies am I eligible for?
The recent loosening of subsidised training eligibility criteria means low-cost training is now available to more people, regardless of your previous study. For example, you may be eligible for low-cost training if you are:
